Weekly Scoop: Week of Aug. 29

Happy First Day of School!

Announcements

Way to Go Glen Haven! With all your help (plus the help of our larger community) we were able to raise enough money to bring Reflex Math to Glen Haven.  Kudos to Ms. Caruso and Ms. Fox for spearheading this fundraiser!  I know we are all excited to see Reflex Math in action!

Clothing Drive! Clean out your closets and help support our school! (Because Reflex Math is fully funded, this $ will go to support our school!)  The PTA, Ms. Caruso and Ms Fox will be jointly hosting a fundraiser, collecting clothing and small household items for the Unique Thrift Store in Wheaton.  Bring your stuff to the school by September 12 – drop off in Ms. Fox’s room.  The Unique Thrift Store will then donate $ back to the PTA, based on the weight of the clothing and items donated!

Mabel’s Labels: Make sure your kids’ stuff makes it home by labeling everything!  Buy Mabels Labels AND Help the PTA.  Double Win!  Check it out here

Have you seen our new PTA Logo?  Head to our Facebook Page to check it out!  T-shirts will be on sale at all of our Back to School events!  Thanks to Sonic Promos for creating the logo for us!

Are you collecting Box Tops? Do you know what a box top is? Glen Haven participates in Box Tops for Education – a program that provides the PTA with $ for each box top collected. It’s easy, buy a product that participates in the program (there are a lot -Ziploc bags; Kleenex tissues; Cheerios; Totinos pizza rolls) and remember to collect the box top before throwing out the packaging. You’ll know if a company participates because you’ll see a “Box Top$ for Education logo” on the packaging. Send your box tops collection into the school, and the school gets $. Pretty simple way to help out our students! Here is a form.

Good News! Our Labels for Education program was able to buy our school balls, jump ropes, recess equipment, hand buzzers for use in classroom interactions and 5 dozen sets of watercolor trays. Labels can still be submitted through August of this year, so please keep clipping them!

Have you been on our Facebook page recently? Check out pics from our last meeting where we learned about home safety from the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad and see pics from the Principal’s Book of the Month Club!
