Summer Food Service Program – The Summer Food Service Program provides free, nutritious breakfasts and lunches to children and teens in low-income areas during the summer months when they are out of school. See the link for more information

GHES Summer Playdates–  Each playdate will be at Evans Park (2001 Evans Pkwy, Silver Spring, MD 20902) from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.  This is a great opportunity to see old friends and make new ones especially for incoming kindergarten students. The playdates will be held on Saturday, June 30th; Sunday, July 15th; and Saturday, August 18th.  There are no rain dates.

 

Free English Class – Free English Class will meet every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. This class will focus on conversational English and Language skills. Please come and join us!

Capital’s Parade– Rock the Red and celebrate the Caps’ Stanley Cup victory! A parade will take place on Constitution Avenue, starting at 23rd Street NW and heading east to 7th Street NW. It kicks off at 11am, but get there earlier if you want to stake out a good spot to see it — optimal viewing will be between 7th & 17th Streets NW.

 

Twilight Concert Series – Each Tuesday evening in June at Brookside Gardens there will be a series of musical performances.  Bring your friends and family, and don’t forget your chairs or blankets (allowed in the Gardens on concert evenings ONLY). Food trucks will also be available. This is a FREE rain or shine event.

Bethesda Summer Concert Series – All ages (family-friendly event). 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live music that rocks Thursday nights! Bethesda restaurants will also be a part of the concert fun!   • 4/16 – Dine Out Fundraiser at Five Guys (10510 Connecticut Avenue Kensington, MD 20895). Five Guys will donate 15% of your purchase from 5pm to 9pm to the GHES PTA.
  • 4/19 – Report Card Distribution
  • 4/21 – Annual Sweep the Creek – From 9:00am – 11:00am rain or shine. Please meet at the end of Windham Lane by the footbridge (behind GHES). We will clean up the community, working our way back to Glen Haven Park and school grounds.  Gloves and trash bags will be provided.  Students will receive 25 dojo points for a minimum of 25-30 minutes of clean up.  Afterwards, please join everyone at the Community Fair from 11:00am – 1:30pm in the GHES cafeteria.  There will be food and other items for purchase.  If you would like to reserve your own table with activities and/or food please contact Jenny Valenzuela at 240.406.0461.

Pre-K Registration – Pre-K Registration will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 9:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Glen Haven Elementary School. Kindergarten Orientation – Do you have a child that will be 5 years old by September 1, 2018?
