Audubon Naturalist Society (ANS), an environmental organization based in Chevy Chase, offers an afterschool club designed all around nature-play. Students spend time outdoors investigating the natural world and playing games. Students also get physical exercise and enjoy hands-on learning and science opportunities.
Class Description
Winter Wildlife: As the winter brings colder temperatures and shorter days, our animals have to adapt. Some animals stay, some animals migrate to warmer places, and some animals will hibernate. Each week, we will focus on one animal and discuss it in detail. We will play games, go on scavenger hunts, and explore many of the animals of our region. Black bears, deer, squirrel, and owls are just a few of the animals we will focus on. Live animal presentations are set to occur.
Class schedule: Wednesday
Dates: Starts Oct. 7.
Grades: K-2
Cost: $80 for 6 weeks ($13.30/class)
Note: an Audubon after-school class for 3rd-5th graders is coordinated through the school; Ms. Caruso is the contact
