GHES PTA Call for Volunteers–
Have your children enjoyed a movie night, book fair, after school activity, class celebration, or wearing Glen Haven attire? Do you count on the “Weekly Scoop” email to keep you up to date? Parent and community volunteers through the PTA make all this, and more, possible. PTA activities, led by volunteers, raise funding to support instructional materials your children’s teachers use; projects teachers undertake with students; and field trips. In addition, PTA organizes appreciation events for our wonderful Glen Haven staff.
To ensure these activities continue, we’re putting out the call for volunteers to help lead the PTA next year. We also need volunteers to assist those leaders. We’re holding a discussion on the many options for contributing to Glen Haven’s community, as well as PTA leadership positions. Please join us in the cafeteria on Tuesday, March 6 from
6:30-7pm for pizza and socializing and 7pm for the discussion. Child care will be provided for school-age children.
Below are brief descriptions of the leadership positions — feel free to contact anyone on the nominating committee if you can’t make the March 6 meeting or if you have any other questions. Whether you can contribute a couple of hours next year or might welcome a leadership role, your help will make a difference!

Read-A-Thon – The Read-A-Thon has begun and will continue until March 9! It’s not too late to register! Follow the steps below to sign up your child.
Step 1: Set up your child’s personal page. Their teacher should have sent home a sheet with instructions and their personal code. It only takes a couple of minutes!
If you didn’t get an instructions sheet email: President@ghespta.org – Amanda can get you set up.
Step 2: Share your child’s personal page with friends and family and ask them to sponsor your child’s reading journey with a donation. They can donate directly through your child’s page.
The Glen Haven Read-A-Thon is raising funds for the Glen Haven PTA. Funds raised will go to community events like last Friday’s Movie Night, student and teacher support, and field trip grants. Fun Fact: if every student in Glen Haven raised $10 we would raise $5000 for our school community!
Step 3: Log your Child’s reading sessions. Start from your child’s personal read-a-thon page (that you set up in step 1) and log your child’s reading sessions.
There are awesome prizes that will be given to readers. We will be randomly drawing names for our participation prizes that include:
-An after school Sports Class with Avanti
-An after school dance class with with Skys the Limit
-A Glen Haven Water Bottle

Also, the top reader in each grade (reader with the most minutes) will win a gift card to be used at the next Glen Haven Book Fair!
