Glen Haven Weekly Scoop: Week of November 12


International Night – International Night is this week, November 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Please come and join us in celebrating the diverse cultures and customs of our GHES community.  There will be a fashion show and delicious dishes to enjoy.

Basket Raffle – The GHES 3rd and 4th grade will be raffling off themed baskets to help raise money to attend Weather Day at the Nationals Park! Raffle tickets are available for purchase every morning from Monday 11/13th to Tuesday 11/21st and on International Night.  Baskets will be raffled off on Wednesday, 11/22nd!  Each ticket is 50 cents or 15 tickets for only 5 dollars.

Mrs. Reyman: First Grade – Willy Wonka’s Candy Factory (Candy)
Mrs. Kasprzyk: Second Grade – Bake Up Some Memories (Baking)

Ms. Hudock: Fourth Grade – Family Night In (Game Night)
Mrs. Burmeister: Fifth Grade – One Stop Party Shop (Celebrations Basket)

  • 11/17 – Early Release – students will be released at 12:55pm

Misc/Community News:

Mental Health Fair – The Montgomery County School Psychologist Association is hosting its first annual mental health fair at CESC (Carver Educational Service Center) on November 13th from 5:00 -7:00pm.  Topics will include LGBTQ, Stop and Think strategies, Early Childhood Development, Yoga and Mindfulness, Bilingual Assessments, Emotional Intelligence, Pet Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety, and Sleep Hygiene. Psychologists will be facilitating mini group sessions for children and parents in addition to hosting several informational tables. Please see the flyer for additional information.

Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade – The annual Thanksgiving Parade is on November 18th in downtown Silver Spring.  Please see the link for more information.
