Glen Haven Weekly Scoop: Week of October 22


Book Fair – The Book Fair is coming! It will be open during the school day from 9:00am – 3:30pm on October 31.  On November 1 and 2 the fair will be open from 9:00am – 5:00pm.  For out of town family & friends, the Online Book Fair will be available from October 24 – November 7. myMCPS Classroom Parent Portal – This resource is now live to access for families with elementary students.  A letter was sent in the mail with your student’s personal ID number and password. See the link below to access the myMCPS Classroom Parent Portal.  Please e-mail Ms. Gibson at if you need assistance.

GHES Costume Swap – If your children have outgrown costumes that are still in good condition please bring them to the first GHES Costume Swap.  It will take place Monday – Friday (October 23 – 27) from 8:40 – 9:10am at the GHES cafeteria.

Lunch/Recess Aide Substitutes – If you are occasionally free between 11:00am – 1:00pm and would like to support GHES please consider becoming a Lunch Hour Aide (LHA) Substitute. See the link for more details.

A+ School Rewards – GHES has the opportunity to participate in and earn CASH from A+ School Rewards, a great fundraising program run through your local Giant! Visit and follow the prompts to create your online account. You will need your 12-digit Giant Card number and the School ID # 00851

Kids Helping Kids Food Drive – Please donate any non-perishable foods.  The class that collects the most food (in items) will win an ice cream party.  Food will be donated to the Glen Haven Pantry and the Maryland Food Bank.

  • 10/27 – Fall Festival – from 1:45 – 3:15pm  Students may bring costumes to school for the Fall Fest parade.  Parents check in with your room parent or teacher to sign up to help with classroom Fall Fest party.

Halloween Eye Spy – Eye Spy Trains are back on Saturdays and Sundays in October.  The Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel will be dressed up as “Trainslyvania.”  Please see the link to purchase tickets.
