Glen Haven Weekly Scoop: Week of October 15


GHES Movie Night – The PTA still needs your help!  Please check out the link to see the different ways you can volunteer for the upcoming Movie Night on October 20th at 6:30pm.

Book Fair(extended hours!) – The Book Fair is coming! It will be open during the school day from 9:00 am – 3:30pm on October 31st.  On November 1st and 2nd the fair will be open from 9:00am -5:00pm.  For out of town family & friends, the Online Book Fair will be available from October 24th-November 7th. If you would like to volunteer to help make this an awesome event, please check out the link below!

Lunch/Recess Aide Substitutes – If you are occasionally free between 11:00am – 1:00pm and would like to support GHES please consider becoming a Lunch Hour Aide (LHA) Substitute. See the link for more details.

A+ School Rewards – Beginning October 6, 2017, GHES has the opportunity to participate in and earn CASH from A+ School Rewards, a great fundraising program run through your local Giant! Visit  and select Savings & Rewards. Follow the prompts to create your online account. You will need your 12-digit Giant Card number and the School ID # 00851

Kids Helping Kids Food Drive – Please donate any non-perishable foods.  The class that collects the most food (in items) will win an ice cream party.  Food will be donated to the Glen Haven Pantry and the Maryland Food Bank.

  • 10/18 – Drama Club Parent Meeting
  • 10/20 – Movie Night at GHES- This is a Glen Haven Elementary PTA sponsored event. Admission is FREE. Doors open at 6:30pm, movie starts at 7:00pm! Concessions will be for sale! Wear your PJs and bring a blanket to sit on.  This is NOT a drop off event.  A parent or guardian must be present.

NAACP Parents’ Council – On Monday, October 16, the NAACP Parents’ Council kickoff meeting will be held from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Gaithersburg High School. Please see the link below for more information.

Halloween Eye Spy – Eye Spy Trains are back on Saturdays and Sundays in October.  The Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel will be dressed up as “Trainslyvania.”  Please see the link to purchase tickets.
