PTA Meeting – Tuesday, November 7, is the next PTA meeting. Please come for pizza at 6:30pm. The meeting will begin at 7:00pm. Childcare also begins at 7:00pm and is provided by Alphabest.
International Night – International Night is November 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. We will be celebrating the diverse cultures and customs of our GHES community. There will be a fashion show and delicious dishes to enjoy.
Fundraiser for GHES 3rd and 4th Grade – The GHES 3rd and 4th grade will be raffling off themed baskets to help raise money to attend Weather Day at the Nationals Park! They need your help collecting items for the baskets. Below are the grade level themes:
Kindergarten – Crafter’s Dream (Crafting)
First Grade – Willy Wonka’s Candy Factory (Candy)
Second Grade – Bake Up Some Memories (Baking)
Third Grade – Take It Outside (Sports)
Fourth Grade – Family Night In (Game Night)
Fifth Grade – One Stop Party Shop (Celebrations Basket)
Please donate new items to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, November 8th. Information about the raffle will be sent home on the same day. Thank you so much for your help and support!

Downcounty Consortium – On Monday, November 6th at 6:30PM, come hear Downcounty parents and Cluster Coordinators testify on behalf of the capital improvement needs of our school and all of the Downcounty schools. The testimony will take place at the Board of Education at 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville. Flu Vaccine Clinic – The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services will conduct free injectable flu vaccine clinics on Nov. 9 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for children 18 and under at John F. Kennedy, Northwest and Rockville high schools. These clinics will be open to any school-aged child. The clinics are free, but registration is required due to limited vaccine supplies. Mental Health Fair – The Montgomery County School Psychologist Association is hosting its first annual mental health fair at CESC (Carver Educational Service Center) on November 13th from 5:00 -7:00pm. Topics will include LGBTQ, Stop and Think strategies, Early Childhood Development, Yoga and Mindfulness, Bilingual Assessments, Emotional Intelligence, Pet Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety, and Sleep Hygiene. Psychologists will be facilitating mini group sessions for children and parents in addition to hosting several informational tables. Please see the flyer for additional information.
