Glen Haven Weekly Scoop: Week of September 24


Gifted Child Committee Community Meeting – On Wednesday, 9/27 from 7:00-9:00pm, join GTAMC and the MCCPTA Committee for a community meeting to discuss the obstacles that prevent talented disadvantaged children from developing their full potential. The meeting is free and will be held at MCPS Carver Auditorium, 850 Hungerford Dr, Rockville, MD 20850.

Hurricane Donation – Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation, Inc. are working together to raise funds to aid in the recovery of schools in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.  If you are interested in donating, please use the below link.  Thank you for your support!

Volunteers– Remember, all Montgomery County Public School volunteers must complete a child abuse and neglect training.  The training takes approximately half an hour to complete.

After School Programs – Don’t forget to sign up for after school activities offered at GHES.  The start dates are approaching!

Misc/Community News:

KIDfest – Join interactive activities and family fun celebrating creativity an innovation on Sunday, September 24, from 12:00 – 5:00pm at the Silver Spring Civic Building.  Admission and activities are free to the public.

Wheaton Arts Parade – This is a free event on September 24 (Parade starting at 10:00am and festival follows until 6:00pm) Watch the parade, meet artists, and enjoy the entertainment and food!

Zoo Fiesta – On September 24 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm the National Zoo is having Zoo Fiesta (free event). Enjoy a variety of fun-filled family activities, including live music, authentic gourmet cuisine and educational activities about conservation in Central and South America.
