Glen Haven Weekly Scoop: Week of September 17


First PTA Meeting of the Year! – Tuesday, September 19, at 6:30 – 8:00pm.  Please come and join the PTA for free pizza at 6:30.  The meeting will begin at 7:00pm.  Feel free to bring the kids.  Child care during the meeting is provided by Alpha Best.

Father’s Take your Child to School Day – On September 19, father figures are encouraged to take their child to their classrooms between 8:40 – 9:00am.  From 9:00 – 9:30am light refreshments will be served in the cafeteria.  Then dads can visit classrooms from 9:30 – 10:00am.

Elementary School Report Card – In case you missed the presentation on new report cards at the Second Cup of Coffee, here’s a link to a video that may help you understand the changes.  Also, please see Class Dojo with links to parent guides for your child’s grade.

Volunteers– Remember, all Montgomery County Public School volunteers must complete a child abuse and neglect training.  The training takes approximately half an hour to complete.

After School Programs – Don’t forget to sign up for after school activities offered at GHES.  The start dates are approaching!

Spirit Wear – Glen Haven Eagle wear will be sold on 9/19 at the first PTA Meeting.  If you would like to order t-shirts please turn in the forms ASAP.  The deadline to submit forms is 9/19/17. Wear form – English %281%29.pdf?dl=0

Wheaton Arts Parade – This is a free event on September 24 (Parade starting at 10:00am and festival follows until 6:00pm) Watch the parade, meet artists, and enjoy the entertainment and food!

Zoo Fiesta – On September 24 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm the National Zoo is having Zoo Fiesta (free event). Enjoy a variety of fun-filled family activities, including live music, authentic gourmet cuisine and educational activities about conservation in Central and South America.

Casseroles for a Cause – Help fill freezers with delicious meals that will feed hundreds of folks in our community. We need your help to stay home and cook any time on October 7.  See link below for more details.
